Smart IR Blaster User Manual


Note: This product is an infrared remote control device and only supports infrared-controlled appliances. After over a decade of collection and updates, it supports over 8,000+ brands of infrared appliances. However, due to the vast variety of appliances available, we cannot guarantee 100% compatibility. If you encounter an appliance model that cannot be controlled, we sincerely apologize. Please provide feedback to help us add it. We will try our best to find the corresponding code but cannot guarantee success. If you have the original remote control, you can either learn its signals using the learning function or email us at Alice@ELKsmart.com.


I. Product Overview

The working principle of this product is as follows: The Smart IR Blaster requires a compatible smartphone app (Ocrustar) to function. The app contains a vast database of infrared codes. Through a matching process, it finds the appropriate infrared code to enable the phone to control infrared appliances. The infrared code must be emitted by the IR Blaster. Phones with built-in IR functionality can use the app directly without any additional hardware. Phones without built-in IR must purchase a IR Blaster.



II. Quick Start Guide


1.Download the App


・ iOS: Scan the QR code or search for "Ocrustar" in the App Store.

・ Android/HarmonyOS: Scan the QR code or search for "Ocrustar" in the AppGallery, Huawei AppGallery, or other major Android app stores.


2.Insert the Smart IR Blaster & Connect to App


・ Open the Ocrustarapp.

・ Insert the Smart IR Blaster into the phone's USB port. A connection success popup should appear on the phone.

・ Positioning: Turn your phone upside down and point the end with the Smart IR Blaster directly at the appliance you want to control. Keep it within close range (1-3 meters).

・ ⚠️ Important: For some Android models, you MUST enable the OTG function in your phone's settings beforehand; otherwise, the connection popup will not appear. This applies to brands like Vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme, etc.


3.Match the Target Appliance


・ Tap the "+" icon or the "List" icon in the top left corner.

・ Go to the "Appliance Type" page, select the appliance type and brand, then enter the matching page.

・ Follow the on-screen instructions: tap buttons and check if the appliance responds correctly.

・ Signal Confirmation: If the Smart IR Blaster's green indicator light flashes when you tap a button, the signal was emitted successfully. If the appliance doesn't respond, try the next set of codes ("Try next").

・ Learning Function (found at bottom of Appliance Type page): If you have the appliance's original and functional remote control, you can record its button signals directly into the app for use. Follow the in-app instructions.

・ DIY Code Library (found at bottom of Appliance Type page):This library mainly contains codes learned by users. If you cannot find a match using the standard library, try searching here to increase the matching probability.


4.Save Your Remote


・ After matching is complete, save the remote controller.

・ Saved remotes appear in the Remote List where you can delete, rename, and reorder them.


III. FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)


1.Device Not Recognized? (Phone shows no reaction when plugging in the Blaster)

1)Remove thick phone cases. Try flipping the plug direction repeatedly or test on another phone. The phone may lack OTG support or have a faulty OTG function.

(e.g., Honor Play 20, Huawei Nova 3 are known to lack OTG support and cannot use the blaster).

2)For some Android models, enable OTG in Settings beforeplugging in (Vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme, etc.).

3)Other Possible Causes:


・ For some OPPO models: Reboot the phone afterenabling OTG.

・ For some Huawei models: Select "MIDI Mode" when prompted.

・ For some models: OTG requires battery level > 30% to function.

・ For some Samsung S24/S23, Huawei P70: Connectivity issues reported; purchase newer models (updated after May/June 2025).


2.Appliance Not Responding? (Blaster flashes green light, but appliance does nothing)

1)Confirm Appliance Type: Is the appliance IR-controlled? If it's a Bluetooth or 2.4Ghz remote (common for some TVs, lights), the Smart IR Blaster does notsupport it. How to Check: Original remote has a dark IR window at the top and requires aiming at the appliance. Remotes labeled Bluetooth, 2.4Ghz, or with a microphone icon are usually notIR.

2)Confirm Appliance Status & Position: Is the appliance powered on/manually turned on? Is it within 1-3 meters? Ensure the Smart IR Blaster's emission window points directly at the appliance. Reposition closer and retry the matching process.

3)For some iOS Audio-compatible IR Blasters: (Lightning or USB-C plug - shows a headphone icon on insertion)

・ Turn off Mono Audio: Phone → Settings → Search "Mono Audio" → Off.

・ Turn off EQ (Equalizer): Phone → Settings → Search "EQ" → Off. (If missing, download Apple's official "Music" app).

4)No reaction after trying all codes for the brand:

・ Use the Learning Function to copy your original remote's buttons.

・ Search the DIY User Code Library.

・ If only one specific appliancefails (and others work after all attempts), we sincerely apologize; your model isn't in our database yet. Please provide feedback via the app or email Alice@ELKsmart.com (including Brand, Model, and clear photos of the original remote's front/back) to help all users of this model.


3.Only Some Buttons Work After Matching?

1)If only Power or specific buttons work: Retry the matching process. When you find the first working code during matching, skipit and try subsequent code sets ("Try next"). Use the "Complete Matching" option if available.

2)If some buttons stilldon't work: Use the Learning Function for those specific buttons, or provide feedback via the app or email Alice@ELKsmart.com (including Brand, Model, missing functions, photos of original remote's front/back).


4.My Appliance Brand is Missing from the List?

1)Try searching online for related/subsidiary brands or check for alternative names the brand might use, then try matching.

2)Alternatively, use the Learning Function to copy your original remote, or provide feedback via the app or email Alice@ELKsmart.com (including Brand, Model, photos of original remote's front/back).

IV. Important Notes


1.This product and app support appliances and languages for most countries worldwide but cannot guarantee 100% compatibility with all appliances.


2.Only Infrared (IR) Control is Supported. This product DOES NOT support Bluetooth, 2.4Ghz, 433Mhz, or other wireless protocols.


3.The Smart IR Blaster is designed for phones withoutbuilt-in IR. Phones with built-in IR can use the Ocrustarapp directly without the blaster.


4.Some app features require permissions. We guarantee not to leak user privacy data.


5. ⚠️ WARNING: This product and its packaging contain small parts. Not suitable for children under 3 years.
